Topic: Companionship of Books

I am really excited about our next topic:

Companionship of Books

What is the value of a "good" book?

And just what are some of these "good" works of literature?

In what ways has literature changed, uplifted and helped you in your life?

What are some of your favorite books of all time?  What books have made your brain hurt?  What books have made you laugh out loud?  What books have taken your mind off of the present? How has literature helped you become a better person and "strengthened" you?

President McKay once said,

"As with companions so with books.
We may choose those which will make us better, more intelligent,
more appreciative of the good and the beautiful in the world..."

"Books,"
 said Hazlitt,
"wind into the heart;
the poet's verse slides into the current of our blood.
We read them when young, we remember them when old.
We read there of what has happened to others;
we feel that it has happened to ourselves.
They are to be had everywhere cheap and good.
We breathe but the air of books.
We owe everything to their authors on this side barbarism."
