You can't live your life with one foot on each side. And it's so interesting to me how closely knit faith and love are. The more faith I place in God the more of a loving person I become. The more loving I choose to be, the closer I feel to God and the easier it is for me to place my faith in Him.

One of my all time favorite articles about this subject was written by Patricia Holland called, "The Fruits of Peace". She talks about how we can make the choice of love over fear and gives some wonderful studies and examples. She also gives some specific exercises to do to find peace in our lives. It's a great read and a great inspiration!

Here's a link if anyone wants to read it... http://www.lds.org/ldsorg/v/index.jsp?hideNav=1&locale=0&sourceId=940f05481ae6b010VgnVCM1000004d82620a____&vgnextoid=2354fccf2b7db010VgnVCM1000004d82620aRCRD

What an amazing post! From a truly amazing woman!...

What an amazing post! From a truly amazing woman!! You have such a great insight through experience of the incredible selflessness that accompanies adoption.

I saw that same selflessness first hand when I watched a friend of mine, as a senior in high school, place her baby for adoption. I watched her in amazement as her whole life changed while making decisions based soley on what she felt was going to be best for her baby. It was the deepest love I had ever witnessed at that point in my life. It left a lasting impression on me of the courage and sacrifice it takes to be willing to give your baby more. I have a very tender spot in my heart for women who are willing to take themselves out of the picture and do what is best for their baby when they not in a position to be all their baby needs or give their baby all their baby deserves to have.

The woman saying to you "that under those circumstances she would raise the child for her daughter is such a common thing in our society". And I think it is such a selfish thing to do to the child, in most cases. Their is a reason we have children when we are younger and have the energy and drive to be truly committed to them and raising them. As a teacher's assistant in an elementary school I have seen too many cases of "good intentions", not followed through. And my heart aches for those children!

I had an experience just the opposite of yours the other day. I was talking to a friend of mine about how hurtful I feel it is for a young unprepared mother to keep her child purely out of selfish reasons, just to have the grandmother end up raising him/her, when their are so many couples that yearn to give a child so much more. As I was thinking about couples like you I completely forgot that I was talking to a mother who had sacrificed much as a 16 year old to keep her baby, who was at that moment outside playing with my kids.

My hat goes off to single mothers who understand the seriousness of the decision they are making in keeping their child and the sacrifice it will take to keep and raise that child on their own. But I think their are really few who do what it takes to make sure they continue to be the mom and not pass those responsibilities off to someone else.

In any case, being pregnant as a teenager and having to step back and really look at your life and the future life of your baby has to be a terrifying look at reality. I applaud the women who can take that look and selflessly do what it takes to give their baby the best life possible.

I love this poem!
